GHATBI SOFTWARE ENGINEERING PROGRAM (GHA-SEP)
After program completion, GHA-SEP Fellows will be focused on:
- Underpinning GHATBI portfolio companies with robust technology solutions to be more operationally efficient and win competitive business in the local marketplace.
- Building software and data collection solutions for Ghanaian farmers (“African Farm Tech”), agro-processing firms, policy-makers, B2C companies and addressing unmet needs of health-conscious consumers.
GHA-SEP’s chief goal is to ensure that participants have a strong foundation to build upon; a foundation upon which any system can be developed. The training will focus more on the perspective of a professional practitioner, rather than being merely academic. Participants will be exposed to a lot of programs written by professionals in the industry to give them an idea of what real-world programming is like. At the end of every training module, participants will be required to undertake a project that’s relevant in the context of GHATBI’s portfolio companies and/or other agricultural stakeholders.
“If things are getting easier, maybe you’re headed downhill.”
The training program will be divided into modules with the intention of giving special attention to areas that are important in building a well-rounded software development professional. During each module, a number of books will be recommended for further learning, to let participants gain deeper insight, and also supplement what happens in the “classroom”. Each module will also include a major project to be undertaken by the participants, as a team, to help them develop a good working team chemistry which is vital to the success of the future products GHATBI seeks to build.
The following modules will be treated:
